Welcome to Herdade da Burquilheira
With the aim of experiencing the rhythm of rural life, we have been putting down roots in the Alentejo since 2009, and it is at Herdade da Burquilheira and the surrounding landscape that we feel at home.
Initially, we acquired some Limousine cows, worked the land and planted the olive grove.
In order to respect the local heritage, we restored Monte da Burquilheira, to create the main house, the mother's house and the country house, for our friends and guests.
2019 was a year of decisions and change: we decided to improve our ecological footprint by converting all agricultural activity to an organic farming method. This conversion was completed at the end of 2021 and all agricultural production is now certified, creating a self-sustainable cycle that prioritizes the preservation of nature.
“We invite you to visit us, to experience this rhythm of rural life and to listen, calmly and slowly, to the silence of Herdade da Burquilheira.”

The Country House
The peace and silence of the Alentejo countryside
Located on the outskirts of the historic village of Alcáçovas, in the heart of the Alentejo landscape, is Herdade da Burquilheira.
The Monte da Burquilheira country house is located within the Herdade. With a 360º view of natural beauty, it is accompanied by the peace and silence of the Alentejo countryside.
Monte da Burquilheira was restored preserving the traditional characteristics of an Alentejo mountain.
More than our family name!
Amante extra virgin olive oil comes from 50 hectares of olive groves, Picual variety, planted by us in 2012. In a typically Alentejo climate, the olive grove grew with respect for the surrounding nature.
Being a high-quality olive oil, it is produced with extreme care, following an organic farming method*, from olives picked in mid-autumn.
